PE and School Sport Apprentice 2023-24

Description: Castle Point and Rochford School Sport Partnership PE and
School Sport Apprenticeship Scheme in partnership with Sporting Futures

We are delighted to re-launch this exceptionally successful scheme for young people in our area. The School Sport Partnership (based at The Deanes School) is now recruiting for a new cohort of Apprentices to start in September 2023.

Key Information for potential applicants:

• Students need to be between 16 and 24 years old to qualify for an apprenticeship.
• The majority of applicants in the first year will study a ‘Level 2 Community Activator’ coaching qualification as part of the apprenticeship. For students already holding ‘A’ Level / or equivalent qualifications, there is a Level 3 PE and School Sport course.
• Successful applicants will be employed by one of our local SSP Primary Schools (within Castle Point, Rochford or Basildon).
• Students will work 4 days per week at the primary school and be released for the 5th day to attend college lessons and training at the Deanes School with the SSP team.
• All students will benefit from experience of working with the wider SSP team.
• The first year of an apprenticeship will last between 13-14 months and on successful completion, there will be the opportunity to apply to progress onto an advanced course in the second year.
• Apprentices will be paid directly by the primary school employer for 30 hours per week at the rate of £5.28 per hour ( in line with government guidance)
• Apprentices will gain qualifications and receive training in sports coaching skills and how to play a crucial role in the future development of school sport.
